We were at the school in Kumraura yesterday. To our surprise, there was not a single student in class while all the teachers were present. On asking where the students were, we were informed they would be in the field all month with the family. The school has a strength of 100. Such is the state of education in Rural UP.
The teachers suggested the only way to change this was to bring about a change in mind set of the society. That remains an uphill struggle.
